Nestled
at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountain's you will find, Harger
Chihuahuas. Our small family of dogs are bred for Showmanship,
Type, Soundness and Beauty. My name is Lesley Harger and I am
the breeder and handler of our Chihuahuas.
The secret of the success of our lines was based on a
Solid Foundation.
Our strong foundation breeding program became successful by
line breeding two Beautiful
Black-Tri long coated boys, a Father and Son Stud team. By utilizing
this strong team of studs, we have been able to create a phenotype
which is unique to Harger Chihuahuas.
The Father, Ch Sha-Ring Starburst's Shiner-L, was produced by
ROM Ch O'Pags Unforgettable Bear, sire of 17 champions. Bears
sire, producer of 10 champions and his sire producer of 7 champions.
Shiner was a BISS and Group winning Chihuahua, #6 long coat
in 1995 with 9 champions to his credit, two of which I handled
and ranked Nationally in the Top 10 & 20 All-Breed and Breed.
His son Ch Sha-Ring Harger's All That Jazz, and the second half
of our foundation stud team, was
a Group placing, BOV specialty winner and #16 in Breed ranking
in 1999. Jazz was the product of a tight linebreeding to his
sires pedigree which accentuated and set the Beautiful phenotypical
traits in our dogs.
The rich colors, lovely heads, excellent conformation, health,
and outgoing show personality's is our Testimony that we have
found the Mother Lode, here in the Sierra Nevada's.
Quotes from the Book:
"Born to Win: Breed to Succeed" by Patricia
Craige Trotter
Reproduced below with written permission from the author:
"A sire's worth is measured by his progeny". "Great Sires
tend to be from great sire lines. In assessing these sires,
appropriate consideration should be given to those whose sires
were also great sires. Furthermore, it will not be surprising
if their grandsire or both grandsires were also outstanding
sires. When you are dealing with such a sire line, it is known
as the direct tail male line."
"Keep in mind when studying this tail male line of descent that
the sire always gives a copy of his Y chromosome to his sons,
for it is what determines their sex."
"The truly great sires will breed on equally well through both
their sons and their daughters".
"When sires are making a valuable contribution to the breed
with little opportunity at stud, take a good look at them".
We
are so Blessed to have had these two Beautiful Guys in our program!
We hope you will think so too!
Our Sire's pedigree's and the Beauty that continues to be captured
in their puppy's, is the testimony that speaks for what and
who they truly are.

When
you look at a dog's pedigree, it tell's you what he OUGHT to
be
When you look at a dog in the ring, it tell's you what he SEEMS
to be
When you look at a dog's progeny, it tells you what he IS.
